The Voice of Ohio's Rural and Small-Town Schools

The Coalition of Ohio Rural and Small-Town Schools (CORAS) is the only statewide superintendent-led organization dedicated exclusively to advancing the interests of Ohio's rural and small-town school districts and the Educational Service Centers that support them. Representing more than 150 districts across 46 Ohio counties, we serve as a powerful advocate for the students, educators, and families who call rural and small-town Ohio home.

We serve as the unified voice for rural and small-town districts at the Ohio Statehouse. We engage directly in state budget discussions, legislative initiatives, and education policy debates.

Delivering Results

CORAS has led the efforts to:

Restore $385 million in funding to rural districts through successful state budget advocacy

Protect $470 million in critical reimbursement funding during property tax reform 

Advance solutions to close long-standing disparities in school facilities funding

Defeat harmful proposals that would have reduced local flexibility and negatively impacted school district finances

Safeguard school district carryover balances 

CORAS is run by superintendents, for superintendents.
